Saint Dominic by Mary Fabyan Windeatt
Dominic was a holy priest. When heritics came, Dominic went to help. But Dominic didn't get any converts. He went to see some priests. Dominic told them that they needed women helpers. One day Dominic was preaching to nine women. The nine women didn't believe in God. Then they saw a demon coming, and they got really scared. Dominic said "Begone satan. In the name of the Lord!". Then the demon disapeared. The nine women converted. Dominic made them into nine women helpers. Then Dominic got permission to start a group of priests. A lot of men wanted to do it. One day Dominic saw a young man on his way to the Holy Land. Dominic knew that the man wanted to join the group. When the man joined, he became very sick. He was about to die when the Virgin Mary came and healed him. When Mary healed the man, she also gave the group a new part of their habit, the scapular. Everyone wore it as the holiest part of their habit. Soon Dominic grew very ill. He entered heaven at the age of 53. Since then his group has been called the Dominicans.
