Castaways of the Flying Dutchman, by Brian Jacques

Do you like the Redwall series? Then you will like this book. Brian Jacques' first book of his second series, Castaways of the Flying Dutchman.

The crew of the Flying Dutchman had captured a young mute boy. They called him Neb and they treated him as a slave. One day Neb found a dog. The crew didn't know about the dog so Neb kept it a secret. The dog stayed a secret until one of the pirates tried to hurt Neb. The dog jumped out and bit the pirate. One day the captain of the Flying Dutchman got so angry that he cursed God. An angel came and put a curse on the crew. The Flying Dutchman had to sail on the sea eternally. Neb and his dog only had part of the curse. They had to live forever! When Neb finally got on land he found out that the dog and him can communicate with their thoughts. He also found out that he wasn't mute any more. He could talk! Neb changed his name to Ben and called the dog Ned. Ben and Ned have to travel from place to place so that no one knows that they live forever.
