Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy are girls who live with their mother. They are poor, but very happy. But Jo notices that their rich neighbor isn't happy. He is a boy Jo's age. Jo wants to make friends. Soon, they become best friends. Jo's family goes to visit Laurie [the boy] a lot. Meg visits so much that she falls in love with Laurie's tutor, John Brooke. John is kind to Meg's family, and helps their father get back from the war. Meanwhile, Beth gets sick with the scarlet fever. Amy is going around the world with her rich aunt. Beth recovers from scarlet fever, but she is still weak. Jo starts to think that Laurie is falling in love with her. She likes him, but not that much, so Jo leaves. While she is gone, she falls in love with a proffesor. When Jo goes back home, she finds that Beth is getting weaker and weaker. Jo nurses her as well as she can, but Beth dies before Amy gets back from her tour around the world. Laurie asks Jo to marry him. Jo says no, so Laurie goes and marries Amy. The proffesor comes to Jo's house and they get married. All the little girls had finally turned into little women.

I really need to read Little Women. Believe it or not, I have never read the real thing, When I was little I read the abridged version, and now I feel like I've read it even though I haven't. Annoying abridged books :)
