Legend of Luke by Brian Jacques

Once there was a place called Redwall. It was an abbey with mice, hedgehogs, moles, and badgers.

One mouse in particular was a warrior. His name was Martin. All the creatures at Redwall looked up to him. But Martin had troubles. He wanted to know about his father, Luke, who had left Martin when he was very young.

So Martin went on a journey with his friends, Gonff the mouse, Trimp the hedgehog, and Dinny the mole. They met some of Lukes old friends, Vurg and Beau. Vurg and Beau told Martin about Luke.They told him how Luke was captured by vermin and made a slave. They told him how Luke sacrificed his life to kill the vermin...

Martin was sad, but he was also happy because he knew about his dad.
